At McLeod Nursery School, we encourage all families to get involved and volunteer in some capacity - whether it be on our Board of Directors, or as part of one of our various committees. Families who do not pay the volunteer opt-out fee can choose from one of the following positions:
Board of Directors Job Descriptions
Chairperson
The chairperson's responsibilities include applying for the annual grant, renewal of the annual license, renewal of the classroom space, online attendance reports, renewal of staff contracts, iPad organization, and chairing all Board and AGM meetings.
Registrar
The registrar's responsibilities include updating and distributing the registration packages, running the registration process, updating all information on Google Drive, corresponding with parents/guardians, attending the Open House and attending all meetings.
Co-Registrar & Vice-Chairperson
The co-registrar & vice-chairperson's responsibilities include advertising, updating the Facebook page, Instagram page and website, updating information on Google Drive, assisting the registrar with the registration process, attending the Open House and attending all meetings.
Co-Registrar & Vice-Chairperson
The co-registrar & vice-chairperson's responsibilities include advertising, updating the Facebook page, Instagram page and website, updating information on Google Drive, assisting the registrar with the registration process, attending the Open House and attending all meetings.
Secretary
The secretary's responsibilities include attending all meetings, taking minutes at all meetings, posting minutes on Google Drive and applying for all permits.
Volunteer Co-Ordinator
The volunteer co-ordinator's responsibilities include creating and distributing the committee lists, communicating with the committee leads regarding their roles, overseeing the budget of each committee, and attending all meetings.
Fundraising Co-Ordinator
The fundraising co-ordinator's responsibilities include organizing and executing the fundraising events as needed and overseeing the fundraising committee.

Christmas Party
THE CHRISTMAS PARTY OCCURS THE THIRD WEEK OF DECEMBER USUALLY ON A
FRIDAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS BREAK DURING THE DAY. YOU MAY CHOOSE TO SIGN UP TO BE A LEAD OR A COMMITTEE MEMBER IF YOU ARE
AVAILABLE TO HELP DURING THE DAY. THE LEAD OF THIS COMMITTEE IS IN CHARGE OF COMMUNICATING WITH THE
COMMITTEE COORDINATOR AND EXECUTING AND DELEGATING THE DETAILS OF THE PARTY TO
THEIR COMMITTEE MEMBERS.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: SET UP, CLEAN UP, CREATE POTLUCK LIST, CREATE
INVITATIONS, MAKE GIFT BAGS
Christmas Hamper
THE CHRISTMAS HAMPER OCCURS IN DECEMBER AND REQUIRES A LEAD FROM EACH
CLASS TO HELP COLLECT AND DISTRIBUTE THE HAMPER TO A CHOSEN FAMILY. YOU MAY CHOOSE TO SIGN UP TO BE A LEAD IF YOU HAVE TIME TO HELP COLLECT.
SHOP FOR. AND TRANSPORT FOOD FOR A HAMPER WITH THE OTHER LEADS TO A CHOSEN
FAMILY. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: CONTACT CHRISTMAS CHEER BOARD, CREATE A FOOD AND
GIFT SIGN UP SHEET, COLLECT AND DISTRIBUTE ITEMS.
Graduation Party
GRADUATION FOR ALL CHILDREN MOVING ON TO KINDERGARTEN IN THE FALL WILL
TAKE PLACE IN JUNE DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. YOU MAY CHOOSE TO SIGN UP FOR THIS COMMITTEE IF YOUR CHILD IS GRADUATING
AND YOU HAVE TIME DURING THE DAY TO VOLUNTEER AT THE EVENT. A LEAD IS REQUIRED FROM THE 4 AM CLASS AND FROM THE 3/4 PM CLASS. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
End of Year Celebration
THE END OF THE YEAR CELEBRATION IS FOR ALL CHILDREN WHO ARE NOT GOING TO
KINDERGARTEN IN THE FALL. IT WILL TAKE PLACE IN JUNE DURING THE SCHOOL DAY. YOU
MAY CHOOSE TO SIGN UP FOR THIS COMMITTEE IF YOUR CHILD IS RETURNING TO NURSERY
SCHOOL AND YOU HAVE TIME DURING THE DAY TO VOLUNTEER AT THE EVENT. A LEAD IS REQUIRED FROM THE 3 AM CLASS AND FROM THE 3/4 AM CLASS. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: CREATE POTLUCK SIGN UP SHEET, SET UP, CLEAN UP,
INVITATIONS.
Fundraising
FUNDRAISING MAY OCCUR THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. IF YOU ARE ORGANIZED AND HAVE
TIME IN THE EVENINGS TO PREPARE AND IMPLEMENT FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES YOU MAY
CHOOSE TO VOLUNTEER FOR THIS COMMITTEE. A LEAD IS REQUIRED FROM ALL THREE
CLASSES. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Housekeeping
HOUSEKEEPING COMMITTEE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEANING AND DISINFECTING THE
CLASSROOM MONTHLY. CLEANING OCCURS 2 HOURS IN THE AFTERNOON OR 2 HOURS IN THE
EVENING. YOU MAY CHOOSE TO VOLUNTEER FOR THIS COMMITTEE IF YOU ARE ABLE TO
CLEAN 2-3 TIMES DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
WASHING AND DISINFECTING ALL THE TOYS, SHELVES,
ETC.
